Harrogate Volunteer Centre launches a photography competition

7 June 2012

The Harrogate & Area Volunteer Centre launches a Photography Competition celebrating local voluntary activity.

To mark National Volunteer’s Week 2012 the local Volunteer Centre is challenging the people of Harrogate to capture the spirit of volunteering in a photo.

Over the last year, in the Harrogate District, hundreds of thousands of hours have been given voluntarily to help people in need, to improve the natural environment and to bring the community together.

The Volunteer Centre said:

We want to encourage more people to try volunteering and to do this we want to capture the variety of different volunteering experiences in the area – whether it’s volunteers taking part in the Bed Race, running amateur sports clubs, supporting disabled people to live at home or planting trees. Volunteers make a huge difference to our community and there really is a volunteer role to suit everyone!

The photo competition is open to everyone in the District and is completely free to enter. Thanks go to Bass & Bligh optical retailers who are supplying prizes for the winning entries. The winning photos will also be displayed at V in the Park in the Sun Pavilion on 8th July 2012.

The photo competition is split into 5 categories Arts/Music/Culture, Caring, Outdoors, Learning/Teaching/Mentoring and the ’Wildcard’. Application forms are available to download at www.harrogatecvs.org.uk/PhotoCompetition and entries should be submitted via email to caroline@harrogatecvs.org.uk before the closing date of 22nd June 2012.
