Police investigate lewd incident in York

21 May 2012

York police are appealing for information after two boys indecently exposed themselves.

The incident occurred at 5.40pm on Sunday 20 May 2012, as a 20-year-old woman was walking along a path from Heslington Road, running behind the Retreat, which leads to University Road.

As the woman approached a group of three boys, two of them dropped their tracksuit bottoms and made lewd gestures towards her. The first boy is described as white, aged around 10 or 12 years old, 5ft 4in tall with a medium build and blond mop like hair about 2” long.

At the time he was wearing a polo t-shirt and green tracksuit bottoms. The only description of the second boy is that he is around 10 to 12 years of age with a medium build and dark hair. The third boy, who did not expose himself, is around the same age.

PC Tony Barnes, of York Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

This is a shocking and outrageous incident which naturally left the young woman upset by the experience. This type of obscenity is utterly intolerable and I urge anyone who can identify the group of boys to contact the police or Crimestoppers immediately.

If you can help with this investigation please contact York police on 101, press option 2 and ask for Tony Barnes. Alternativley call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference number 12120080575.
