Appeal to trace murder victim’s laptop

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for help to trace a laptop belonging to murder victim Julie Davison.

Officers investigating her murder are asking anyone in the Leeds area to contact them if they have been offered a silver and black Toshiba laptop for sale since 26 April.

The 36-year-old, James Allen, who was arrested in connection with the murder of Colin Dunford and Julie Davison has now been charged with two counts of murder. He has also been charged with rape, false imprisonment, assault and witness intimidation.

He appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court today – 2 May 2012.

The laptop is described as a Toshiba C660/C660D, it is silver on the outside with a Toshiba logo across the centre and black inside. The bag is a Texet make in black with thin, white piping on the front.

Anyone who has been offered a Toshiba laptop or believes they have bought or acquired the computer without knowing its origins, is asked to contact the police urgently.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Smith who is heading the North Yorkshire investigation into Julie’s murder, said:

The laptop is missing from Julie’s home and it is extremely important that it is located as soon as possible.

We are appealing to members of the public, market traders and second hand shop owners who may have been offered the computer to contact us as a matter of urgency. Even if you didn’t buy it, but have been offered a Toshiba laptop for sale, please contact us.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Cleveland Police on 101.

North Yorkshire Police officers are distributing leaflets in the Leeds area today to appeal to local traders and customers to help locate the laptop.
