Health and fitness entrepreneur poised for expansion

26 April 2012

The owner of a portfolio of Yorkshire health and fitness businesses is poised to expand both his retail and consultancy ventures.

James Tapster, a former England sevens player and rugby pro and owner of two treatment and fitness centres, a skincare brand and corporate health consultancy, has unveiled plans that he hopes will boost sales of his skin product range and help him engage with more corporate organisations on goal driven fitness regimes.

The expansion will see the relaunch of his Born and Bred natural skincare label as an eco brand with the development of new business lines for spas and treatment rooms.

He has also widened the scope of his consultancy arm to implement goal-focussed programmes for senior executives and teams that replicate commonly used business planning strategies.

Tapster’s Harrogate-based businesses Pure Treatment Rooms and Pure Fitness Rooms are also flourishing with new therapists and trainers coming on board and the imminent opening of Pure Treatment Rooms Wetherby by his business partner Wayne Morton, former England cricket team physio.

James Tapster said:

Rather than offering fitness coaching to individuals and organisations, this approach uses the type of goal setting formulas that business leaders will be familiar with and applies it to lifestyle, allowing them to take control of their health in the same way as they manage their businesses.

The health and fitness sector has traditionally been perceived as a lightweight in business circles but attitudes have changed and that has helped me attract the support and investment I need to grow.

It was a challenge initially to make the move from sportsman to entrepreneur back in 2006 when I first opened Pure Treatment Rooms but since then things have gone from strength to strength and the next 12 months look set to be the most exciting of my business career to date.
