Police search high and low for ballooning gear

17 April 2012

Officers are investigating after a trailer full of hot air ballooning equipment was stolen near Tadcaster.

The white Westphalia galvanised trailer, which has a blue fibreglass lid, was taken sometime between 20 March and 5 April 2012 from an address on Main Street in Towton.

Inside the trailer which carries the registration plate YY53 RTV were various items of ballooning gear, including a basket, two hot air balloon tanks, a gas burner and an inflation fan.

Officers, who have been making extensive enquiries in the area, have released images of some of the stolen items and are urging the public to come forward if they recognise them.

PC Derek Bone, of Sherburn in Elmet Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

I am urging anyone with information about where the stolen items to get in touch with the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.

Clearly the equipment is fairly expensive and the owners are keen to have it returned to them.

If you know where the trailer or the equipment is or have been offered any of the stolen items for sale please contact the police.

Anyone who can help the investigation is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Derek Bone or Sherburn police.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting reference number 12120054333.
