In anticipation for the London 2012 Olympics, pupils across HLC (Harrogate Ladies’ College, Highfield Prep School and Bankfield Pre Prep School) came together in a whole school charity event, raising funds in support of Sport Relief 2012.

Pupils competed in events including trampoline challenges, swimming, gym circuits, non-stop netball, a football shoot-out, hula hooping and even a dance-a-thon.

Dressed-up as their favourite sporting heroes the fundraising efforts continued throughout the week. With the chance of winning a signed Arsenal shirt, coaching sessions with top tennis and football players as well as JLS tickets, pupils were keen to participate.

HLC staff also got involved, with teachers signing up for the official Sports Relief Mile, as well as tap dancing sessions. Promoting healthy eating throughout the week, the HLC catering team also played their part, creating delicious dishes for the children to enjoy.

HLC Headmistress, Rhiannon Wilkinson said:

Supporting Sport Relief this year was absolutely fantastic. The whole School came together with staff and with pupils, aged from 2 to 18 years-old, taking part in events which was inspiring to see.

I am very proud and pleased that we raised more than £3,000, exceeding our £2,012 target to tie in with the Olympics

Sport Relief Week was absolutely great. Dressing-up as our favourite athletes and taking part in all the events was so much fun.
