Easter events at Brimham Rocks

24 March 2012

At Brimham Rocks, near Harrogate, there’s a full programme of events to keep the children entertained over the Easter holidays. Events include art workshops, themed walks, climbing activity days for all the family and an Easter trail around the site over the Easter weekend.

Sophie Badrick, Brimham’s community ranger said:

Our Easter activities are always really popular. Any age of child can have a go at our Easter trail and quiz, which runs over three days. They love roaming all over the site and finding answers hidden in the rocks. We usually find that lots of adults have a go too, possibly because of the promise of a chocolate egg at the end!

The Easter trail, in partnership with Cadbury, is a regular yearly event at Brimham, as is the llama walk, run by the team from Nidderdale Llamas, where families get the chance to pet and stroke these intriguing animals.

Art workshops for children include banner making and a woodland art session on a spring theme, held in the site’s recently expanded event area near Brimham Tarn.

The National Trust property is also hosting several climbing sessions over this period, organised by the Harrogate Climbing Centre, and are designed to suit a wide age range, from eight to adult, as well as different climbing abilities. It’s an ideal way to try out a new hobby.

For younger children, the Fairy Secrets session is a lovely introduction to animals, birds and wildlife, with a magical twist – and a little bit of fairy dust at the end to help spring wishes come true.
