Two men arrested for metal theft in Harrogate

PoliceTwo men have today (Tuesday 20 March 2012) been arrested on suspicion of stealing copper piping and lead from an address on Wetherby Road in Harrogate. They have been released on police bail, to allow for further enquiries into the incident.

The men were spotted by neighbours acting suspiciously at an unoccupied property on Wetherby Road at around 6.40pm on Monday 19 March 2012.

After being disturbed by the vigilant residents, the men, who are both from York, ran off leaving their white Ford Transit van behind.

Officers conducted a search of the area and the men, aged 26 and 49, were arrested when they were located nearby a short time later.
