Last chance to sign up for charity dog walk

17 February 2012

Saint Michaels Dog lovers and wellie wearers have one last week to sign up for a popular sponsored walk in aid of Saint Michael’s.

From six-months-old to more than 70-years-young, almost 100 people have already signed up for Woofs and Wellies.

And plenty more are expected before registration closes next Friday February 24, 2012.

The event, which includes 2.5km and 5km routes, takes place on Sunday March 4, 2012 and it will be the first time that dogs have been permitted to Stockeld Park in Wetherby.

It will raise money for Saint Michael’s, the Harrogate-based charity that provides specialist care and support for people across the district living with terminal illness and bereavement, and is supported for the second year running by Forest House Veterinary Surgery, Knaresborough.

The charity’s chief executive, Tony Collins, said:

Woofs and Wellies was great last year – a really good atmosphere and much fun was had by all.

We’re hoping this year will have the same family feeling and camaraderie and that people will take advantage of the opportunity to walk their dogs and enjoy some family time at Stockeld Park.

Dogs have never been permitted to Stockeld Park before so we thank the people at Stockeld for giving Saint Michael’s supporters that privilege.

We’ve had plenty of sign-ups so far and we expect there to be many more before we close. But registration must close next week so take the lead and sign up today to avoid missing out on this fun family event.

Registration for Woofs and Wellies is £6 for adults and £4 for under 16s. The event takes place from 10am on Sunday March 4, 2012. For more information call Saint Michael’s on (01423) 879 687.
