Three singing sensations from Harrogate Ladies’ College’s Highfield Prep department have achieved entry into the National Youth Choir’s prestigious choral groups.

The auditions took Frankie Bounds and Peter Aksamit-Hollingworth both aged 10, and 11-year old Alexa Wilkinson, to Hull, where the youngsters demonstrated their vocal, aural and sight reading ability in front of a panel of expert judges.

Impressing the panel with their angelic pipes, the boys achieved acceptance into the Cambiata Choir, with Alexa securing herself a position with the Girls’ Voice Choir.

The next challenge for the talented trio will come in April, where they will perform with their choirs at the ‘Worldsong!’ concert, which is set to be a spectacular event held at the Royal Albert Hall, London. All seven of Great Britain’s National Youth Choirs will unite for the event, performing choral music from every corner of the globe.

David Darling, who teaches singing to Alexa and Peter, and Ruth Yarborough, who teaches singing to Frankie, both said they could not be more proud and are thrilled that their coaching has given the youngsters the confidence and skill to deliver such fantastic performances.

Highfield Head of Music, Clare Gray, said:

I am delighted that Frankie, Peter and Alexa have secured positions with the National Youth Choir. The children’s musical ability really is exceptional and Highfield will be supporting them all the way.
