Harrogate Symphony Orchestra to showcase ‘extraordinary talent’ of young Ripon Violin Soloist

9 February 2012

Harrogate Symphony Orchestra’s forthcoming March concert will feature the extraordinary talent of Ripon violinist Caroline Heard, who at 14 is the youngest performer to have appeared with the orchestra.

Caroline, who began playing the violin at the age of five, will perform Bruch’s violin concerto at the HSO Spring Concert at the Royal Hall on March 24.

HSO’s conductor and musical director Bryan Western said:

Caroline’s playing is breathtaking and it is a privilege to be accompanying such a talented young performer at the beginning of what I am sure will be a fantastic career as a soloist.

Caroline is a pupil at St Aidan’s school and the school’s choir will also be on stage joining the orchestra in their performance of Orff’s Carmina Burana.

Mr Western added:

It is going to be a fantastic night and both the orchestra and I are really looking forward to it.

Tickets are already selling well for the event and can be purchased from the Harrogate Theatre Box Office Tel: 01423 502 116 or online at www.harrogatetheatre.co.uk
