11 January 2012

Coast to Coast ChallengeLocal Harrogate businessman, Nick Lawson, is to embark on the challenge of a lifetime as he prepares to run the infamous Coast to Coast route in just four days to raise money for friend, Shannon Davis.

Nick’s Coast to Coast challenge, devised by Alfred Wainwright in 1972, will see him run over 190 miles from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire starting on 4 May 2012 and finishing three days later.

Joining him on the four day challenge are friends Andy Gibbon and John Hartley who will be cycling the route alongside him and acting as a support crew.

American born Shannon is undertaking further stem cell treatment in India after being paralysed following a near fatal car crash in 2007.

In 2010 Nick ran four marathons in three weeks to raise money for Shannon’s second trip to India where she took her first steps since the accident.

Nick Lawson said:

I am very excited about taking on the Coast to Coast challenge. Training has started well and I am pushing myself to

the limit to help raise money for Shannon. I have raised over £18,000 for her so far and I really appreciate the fantastic support I have received and hope people continue to show such kindness and generosity.
