Serious collision on A59 at Blubberhouses

Updated 3rd Dec 11 – a 36 year old man has now been confirmed to have died as a result of this incident.

Emergency services are currently (3.25pm Friday 2 December) at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on the A59 at Blubberhouses near to Harrogate.

The road remains closed and is likely to remain so for some time.

The collision involving a Vauxhall Zafira and a Volvo heavy goods vehicle occurred at around 2.40pm today (2 December) near Fewston Reservoir.

The driver of the Zafira suffered serious injuries in the collision and is currently being treated by paramedics. The air ambulance is also at the scene.

The car was also carrying three passengers.

Two passengers from the Zafira, who were initially thought to be uninjured, have been taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured in the collision.

The A59 is blocked in both directions at the scene of the collision and there is a road closure in place at the Bolton Abbey roundabout.
