Mayor launches Harrogate Hospital Radio’s new mixing desk

28 November 2011

Harrogate’s Mayor took to the airwaves today (Monday, November 28) to officially unveil a charity broadcaster’s new mixing desk.

Coun Les Ellington was one of the first to use Harrogate Hospital Radio’s new £10,000 state-of-the-art equipment, which has been part-funded by a grant from the Borough Council’s Community Chest.

The new addition makes the radio station, which has more than 50 members, one of the most modern in the country.

Mark Bexley, Harrogate Hospital Radio Chairman, said:

The new mixing desk represents a significant investment for the society. We are very grateful to have been given financial assistance from Harrogate Borough Council. Without it we wouldn’t have been in a position to purchase the equipment.

I am thrilled that the Mayor was with us to officially launch the new mixing desk.

The award-winning station, which began broadcasting in 1977, was last month presented with the Duke of York’s Community Initiative for the work it does.
