Company takes over the Beulah Street Barnardo’s for ‘Store Wars’ challenge

28 November 2011

Barnardo's-HarrogateForget Star Wars, on Wednesday 7th December Harrogate will welcome Store Wars, as a UK insulation company takes over the Beulah Street Barnardo’s!

A team of employees from Minster Insulation & Dry Lining will occupy the charity shop from 9am until 5:30pm as part of the Barnardo’s competitive fundraising competition, the Store Wars Challenge.

The group of insulation experts will take part in The Apprentice-style task which aims to put their sales, marketing and creative skills to the test. Taking place at Barnardo’s stores all over the country, the Minster team will compete against 15 different businesses to see who can achieve the greatest increase in sales, footfall and local impact. The other businesses involved are all sister companies of Minster Insulation & Dry Lining, Saint Gobain, and include Harrogate FC’s sponsor, leading building materials supplier, Jewson.

To give their event the ‘wow’ factor, the Minster team have employed Celebrity Football Freestyler, Danny McGhee, live music performances, a tombola prize giveaway and appearances from Star Wars characters! Although the overall aim is to raise as much money as possible for the UK ‘s largest children’s charity, the group are bringing their competitiveness from the Board Room to Beulah Street as they strive to raise at least £5,000 on the day.

Paul Heron, Dave Morrison, Andy Warrener, Thabo Motlhatudi, Mark Beeton, Mark Swann, Marilyn Brooks, Steve Jackson and Wayne Markillie are the Minster volunteers that will be drawing in the crowds to spend their pennies on Charity Shop bric-a-brac for a good cause. The Minster crew, who are based in various branches across the country, will also be out on the streets of Harrogate putting on their best smiles to collect proceeds for the cause.

For one day and one day only, the Harrogate Barnardo’s store will be adorned with some extra special products that have been donated by friends, family and colleagues of the Store Wars participants. Many clothes, trinkets and pieces of furniture that have been kindly contributed to the cause are very valuable, but will be sold at charity shop prices on the day itself so that Harrogate shoppers can root around for a bargain!

Managing Director of Minster Insulation& Dry Lining, Peter Stringer comments:

The Minster team are really excited to be raising money for Barnardo’s, our 2011/12 charity partner. The competitive streaks amongst the other companies are emerging but I have every confidence we can get the edge over the other brands. If you’re in or around Harrogate on Wednesday 7th December, be sure to come down for some great deals and to help a fantastic cause.
