Time is running out to have your say on the urban development of Harrogate

25 October 2011

On the 9th September an 8 week consultation started between Harrogate Borough Council and the general public, looking to engage and gain involvement in how urban development should best proceed in the Town.

This consultation period comes to an end at 4:30pm on 4th November.

The housing growth target of 390 new dwellings each year up to  2023/24 is a significant reduction from the previous growth rates and the housing build peak of 950 dwellings in 2001.

The strategy aims to provide much needed new homes in the area at affordable prices while balancing new employment and the provision of new or enhanced services.

During September a Newspaper was delivered widely throughout Harrogate, Knaresborough and Ripon and information remains on the HBC website (see the link below)

Councillor Richard Cooper has stressed that the council has put forward for discussion sites offering the potential for new housing but that local communities may have different views about where growth should take place.

At the start of the Consultation Councillor Cooper said:

The key to the success of this debate is that we want to hear the views from as many people as possible.
