Rudding Park serves pink afternoon tea for breast cancer awareness month

21 September 2011

Staff at award-winning Rudding Park Hotel, Spa & Golf in Harrogate are polishing the silverware in preparation for a month-long special afternoon tea in aid of The Haven breast cancer support centre. The pink themed afternoon tea will be available throughout October to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month and for each tea purchased, Rudding Park will donate £5 to The Haven.

Chefs have devised an entirely pink twist on the classic afternoon tea, with pink sandwiches, including Prawn and Marie Rose sauce, as well as pink éclairs and fancies, and even scones with pink clotted cream. The hotel hopes to raise substantial funds through the sale of the afternoon teas throughout October.

The Haven is a national charity with centres in Leeds, London and Hereford. It is the only national breast cancer charity that provides one-to-one support to improve the quality of life of anyone affected by breast cancer. Working in partnership with the NHS, The Haven offers a free integrated breast cancer support service. Specialist nurses and experts in nutrition, exercise and emotional support provide tailor-made programmes for each Visitor. The Haven in Yorkshire has helped support over 980 women and one man since opening in 2008.

Peter Banks, Managing Director of Rudding Park says

Rudding Park has been a long standing supporter of The Haven and we are thrilled to be helping to raise money in such a delicious way during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Demand will be high for the delicious teas, so we advise people to book early to avoid disappointment.
