In the meantime, officers will be conducting searches of a number of properties in connection with these arrests.

Assistant Chief Constable John Parkinson is in charge of tonight’s policing operation.

ACC Parkinson said:

Officers are working around the clock to identify those responsible for the disorder and other criminal activity we have seen this week so they can be quickly brought to justice.

I would once again like to thank the vast majority of people within these communities, who have been incredibly supportive of their local officers. I would also ask for their patience as we continue working to trace the very small minority who have been involved in these incidents.

Our Neighbourhood Policing Teams are committed to working closely with local people to keep their communities safe, by ensuring there is a larger and more visible presence to offer reassurance and to tackle incidents at the earliest opportunity.

The 11 overnight arrests add to the 12 made earlier this week.

The six men arrested in connection with incidents in the Sheepridge and Deighton areas of Huddersfield on Tuesday night and Wednesday remain in custody.

Five youths arrested on suspicion of burglary and damage in connection with incidents in Huddersfield on Tuesday night and Wednesday remain on police bail pending further enquiries.
