4 August 2011

Cancer Charity Fashion Extravaganza organisers were thrilled when Tesco agreed to sponsor their event for a second time and handed over a cheque for £2,000. The 2011 show, will be held at the Royal Hall, one of Harrogate’s most breath-taking venues, on Sunday 30th October.

The event has been organised by a group of women who have first- hand experience of breast cancer, and are raising money for local cancer care and support services. The aim is to help to increase the confidence and well-being of local people touched by all forms of cancer.

The models for the Fashion Extravaganza include children, men and women, from Ripon, Knaresborough, Wetherby, and the Harrogate area, who have been battling with cancer, and, who will showcase the best of the autumn and winter collections for 2011/2012.

Tesco, who nationally support the annual Race for Life event which raises thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK, were keen to support this local event in Harrogate. All profits raised through the Cancer Charity Fashion Extravaganza 2011 will be split equally between Saint Michael’s Hospice and Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust for the proposed new cancer unit at Harrogate hospital.

More than 800 people are expected to attend this evening of style, elegance, glamour, music and entertainment, on Sunday 30th October. The show will feature day wear, evening wear, formal and casual clothing plus wedding attire, children’s clothes, ladies and gentlemen’s garments. The clothes will be selected from both exclusive fashion houses and famous high street names, including Marks and Spencer, Valtiari, Snooty Frox, Ragdoll ( from Leeds), Sudo Attire, Brides of Harrogate, Yorkshire Menswear, Major Minor, Giraffe, LK Bennett, M & Co ( from Ripon), Eileen Yatron, Georgies, and Jigsaw.

Jane Money, Chair of Cancer Charity Events Harrogate (and a breast cancer survivor from Knaresborough) said “We are so pleased that Tesco have agreed to sponsor the Cancer Charity Fashion Extravaganza champagne reception once again.
