Serious collison – A61 near Harewood

Police are currently at the scene of a serious collision on the A61 between Harrogate and Leeds.

The exact location of the collision is at the entrance to Wharfedale Grange Farm on the A61 near to the village of Harewood.

The collision occurred at around 9.25 this morning (Thursday 21 July 2011) and involved a green Ford Ka and a grey Kawasaki motorcycle.

Both vehicles were travelling in the same direction towards Leeds.

The man riding the motorcycle was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary with multiple injuries.

The woman driver of the Ford Ka was treated at the scene by paramedics, she was not admitted to hospital.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the crash, to contact them.

Witnesses are asked to call Harrogate Roads Policing Unit on 0845 60 60 247, quoting reference NYP-21072011-0110.

The road is currently closed and is expected to remain closed for the next two hours.

    That’s 4 accidents within 24 hours within a 4 mile radius?

    2 on the A658 near Rudding Park, 1 (fatal unfortunately) near Weardley and now this one near Harewood

  2. We see all these crashes in and around this area all the time and i see a few near misses many times.Road closed again from roundabout near Pannal towards Leeds Sunday 24thJuly. How many more crashes deaths before the speed is reduced to 50 or less and a better junction at the Pool turn off near Harewood. Nothing gets done till a VIP has a crash !! Lets wait
