The world returns to Harrogate

11 July 2011

The World Village Market is back in Harrogate this weekend following a successful visit in May – the popular market’s first taste of the town.

The event is taking place in Cambridge Street on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 July and once again, promises a mouth watering feast of exotic foods for visitors to try – from Thai noodles to Spanish paella, Greek olives to French cheeses as well as a selection of healthy Yorkshire and British fayre.

The unique festival-style street market also features ethically traded, handmade, eco–friendly arts, crafts, clothing, jewellery, accessories and ideas from all over the world as well as some local offerings to entice visitors.

Paul Kennedy of organisers, The Market Square Group, said: “We had a very successful visit to Harrogate in May and the local community made us feel very welcome and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the goodies on offer.

“There is always a good deal of interest in the original, good quality products that our traders offer. Handmade and/or ethically traded arts, crafts, clothing and jewellery are holding their own in these tough economic times precisely because people are being more careful about how they spend their money. The World Village Market offers unusual, quirky gift ideas and beautiful pieces for the home and garden too.”
