Public meetings to discuss plans for divisional Police HQ

1 July 2011

Plans for new divisional police headquarters in Wakefield and Leeds and a specialist operational training facility are being discussed at a series of community consultation events.

Members of the community are invited to attend the events in July to hear about recent developments on plans for new police buildings at Havertop Lane, Normanton, Elland Road, Leeds, and Carr Gate, Wakefield.

Households close to the proposed sites will be receiving letters inviting them to the events and also providing the most up-to-date information about the planning process so far.

The meetings will enable communities to be kept up-to-date on the plans and will enable residents to air their views.

Two bidders, Balfour Beatty and Interserve, are currently competing to be awarded the contract for all three projects. They were invited to submit their refined solutions by the end of June last month and a final business case has also been submitted to the Home Office and Treasury for approval.

The preferred bidder is due to be appointed in October and the project remains on programme to begin construction in Spring 2012 subject to the approval of the final business case.

The events are as follows:

New Leeds Divisional Headquarters – Elland Road site, Leeds

Wednesday July 6 – 7pm for 7.30pm
