A Harrogate law firm has expanded its business portfolio by launching a new Probate Recovery department.

Ashworth Law, which introduced the service last month, is now acting for a number of local authorities and a major water company to recoup unpaid bills from the estate of the deceased.

It is also working with Funeral Directors to ensure that funeral expenses are also paid by the estate of the deceased.

Ashworth Law Co-founder Mathew Cobley said: “We have a growing reputation for recovering money for either individuals or businesses and our aim is to develop the company by building on our areas of expertise.

“This is a sensitive area and one that needs special handling. We have a superb team here who are trained to be tactful and sensitive at a very difficult time for those closely affected by bereavement.

“In a very short period of time we have been appointed by a number of very high profile clients to reclaim unpaid bills on their behalf, which is a testament to our work.”

Mr Cobley added: “We keep a very keen eye on potential opportunities, but will only explore areas we know we can successfully work in.

“We are proud of our achievements to date and the rate at which the company has grown over the last 2 years.”
