Police search for missing Harrogate man

Police looking for a man who has been reported missing in Harrogate are appealing for the public’s help to locate him.

John Wills, aged 58, was reported missing at around 6.10pm on Thursday 16 June 2011, by staff at Harrogate District Hospital, where he is an informal patient.

He had told staff he was leaving for the day and would return by tea time but he has not been seen since and is believed to have taken a bag containing his possessions with him.

Police are concerned for John’s welfare and are appealing for anyone who sees him to get in touch. They would also like to hear from any friends or family John may have who have had contact with him recently.

He is described as white, around 6ft tall, with a medium build and balding grey hair. He wears glasses, is hard of hearing and speaks with a southern accent.

When he was last seen he was wearing a white t-shirt, a red checked lumberjack shirt with a blue hood and a pair of tracksuit bottoms.

John also has two indentations in his forehead from an old injury.

PC Simon Pape, of Harrogate police, said: “It has been almost a week now since anyone has seen John and we need him to contact us so that we can ensure he is safe and well.

“I am appealing to anyone who sees him or knows where he might be to contact the police with information.

“I would also appeal to John to get in touch with the police if he sees the appeal and let us know that he is ok.”
