Alison said: “This is a momentous year for the business and we are delighted to be celebrating not one but two significant milestones. In 2001 we took over an existing business which had 40 very different properties on the books.

“We made a very early decision to set our sights on providing only high-quality accommodation, which saw us part company with a number of properties which didn’t fit into this bracket.

“It was brave move for us to make, but one that has paid dividends in the long run. Now, ten years later, we have just taken on out 100th property and are recognized as the District’s leading short-term letting specialist.”

Properties in the Harrogate Holidays’ portfolio includes the country’s oldest watermill, which is located in Nidderdale, contemporary serviced apartments overlooking Harrogate’s Stray and a turreted-Georgian house on Knaresborough’s waterside.

Alison said: “Harrogate Holidays’ now plays an important role in the District’s tourism business. Visitors come to the area for a variety of reasons, but if we don’t have excellent accommodation facilities then they won’t come back and we will lose business to other towns and cities.

“We have learned a great deal over the last decade and we are now looking forward to the next ten.
