Police investigate Bedale assault

13 June 2011

Police are appealing for a vital witness to come forward following an assault in Bedale.

It occurred between 9pm and 10pm on Saturday 14 May 2011, when a 26-year-old local man was walking on Exelby Road in the town. While he was in the lay-by close to Bridge Grange Farm, a car stopped and three youths got out before assaulting him. They then left before returning a short time later and committing a second assault.

As a result of the assault, the man received a black eye, a bloodied nose and bruising to his face and head.

PC Rebecca Corcoran, of the Bedale Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I am urging anyone who knows anything about this assault, and in particular the woman who contacted the police at the time, to come forward. I believe she may have vital information which could help to identify the offenders and I ask that she contacts the police straight away.”
