Harrogate ATM fraudster – identity sought

3 June 2011

Police in Harrogate are asking for the public’s help to identify a woman following the theft of money from a cash machine.

She was caught on CCTV camera withdrawing money from the RBS automated teller machine (ATM) at Tesco Express on Knaresborough Road at around 7pm on Thursday 24 March 2011.

Between Saturday 12 February and Thursday 31 March, numerous withdrawals of small amounts of money amounting to several hundred pounds have been made. The ATM outside McColl’s newsagents on Knaresborough Road has also been used to make unauthorised withdrawals.

PC Martin Ruddock, of the Harrogate Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who recognises the woman and ask that they contact the police straight away.

“I am also urging people to be extra vigilant and monitor their bank accounts for any unauthorised withdrawals. If you think you have been a victim of fraud please contact your bank immediately and report it to the police.”

If you recognise the woman in the CCTV still or have any information that could help with this enquiry to contact PC Martin Ruddock at Harrogate police station on 0845 60 60 24 7 quoting reference number 12110062466. Or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
