A rock star in your living room – just one of the weird and wonderful lots on offer at school charity auction

THE lead singer of a rock band live in your living room, a signed Arsenal team photograph, a VIP evening at Harrogate’s Royal Hall and a teacher’s leopard print tie – just a few of the weird and wonderful lots going under the hammer at Rossett School’s online auction.

The venture is being hosted by Rossett School’s PTA with all lots now live on the website at www.rossettpta.co.uk. Visitors to the site have until 7pm on Saturday, April 2 to place their bids.

PTA chairman Victoria Smith-Dunn said: “Back by popular demand, this is our third charity auction and we have some amazing lots on offer this year. With all the current spending cuts, it’s vital for organizations like ours to do what we can to support the schools our children attend.

“Adventurous types who fancy the chance to be Ray Mears or Bear Grylls for the day can bid on a three-hour bushcraft session. There’s a signed Arsenal team photograph for football fans and pamper packages for those who fancy a bit of TLC. We’ve got a fantastic range!”

The lead singer of local indie rock band D’nile will perform a 90-minute acoustic gig of the winning bidder’s choice and there’s the chance to ‘bid for a box’ at the Royal Hall’s Summer Concert, which includes drinks and canapés at an exclusive reception.

But the lot currently causing the biggest stir is a tie belonging to Rossett School’s religious studies teacher, Mr Oliver Davies.

Mrs Smith-Dunn said: “For some time the halls and classrooms at Rossett have been blessed with the eye-catching and impeccable style of the great Mr Davies. This lot is an opportunity to own a piece of Oliver Davies memorabilia in the form of his legendary leopard-print silk tie.

“We’ve already had a huge response – it seems there are a lot of people out there who want to dress to impress like Mr Davies!”
