Police use specialist search & rescue teams to find missing man

Update Wednesday 16 February 2011: Police can confirm that the man they have been trying to trace in Harrogate has now been located. A 38-year-old local man contacted officers yesterday to confirm that he is the man police were looking for and that he is safe and well.

Update Monday 14 February 2011: Police in Harrogate are still trying to locate an unidentified man whose safety they are concerned for.

Police need the man pictured in the CCTV image, released yesterday, to come forward and let police know he is safe and well. The public are also being urged to contact Harrogate police if they can help officers to identify the man, who has not been seen since being captured on camera in Asda on Bower Road, at 8.05am on Saturday 12 February 2011.

Officers have conducted a thorough search of the area around the River Nidd, assisted by specialist search and rescue teams with trained search dogs.

However, the searches have now been completed and the man has still not been traced. Officers have also been conducting local house to house enquiries in the Bower Road area of Harrogate, in an effort to identify him.
