Farnley fatal road traffic collision – man now named

Police are now in a position to release the identity of a man who died in a road traffic collision on the B6451 at Farnley, on Monday 24 January 2011.

He has been named as Keith Noel Harrison, aged 73, from Otley.

The inquest into his death was opened and adjourned yesterday (Thursday 27 January 2011).

Witness appeal Traffic officers are appealing for the public’s assistance following a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision on the B6451.

It occurred just before 11.40am  on Monday 24 January between Farnley and Fewston near to Lindley Wood Reservoir and involved a silver Volvo which left the road and hit a tree. At the time of the collision the Volvo was travelling from a junction known locally as Dangerous Crossroads towards Otley.

The 73-year-old man driving the car, who was the only person in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The B6451 was closed until approximately 3.45pm following the collision.

Traffic Constable Neale Rees, of the force’s Roads Policing Group, said: “I ask that anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the silver Volvo prior to the incident contacts me as soon as possible as I need to speak to them.”
