About Harrogate International Partnerships

• Bagnere de Luchon in the French Pyrenees (since 1953)

Criteria will be developed for providing financial support to encourage new groups to become involved.

The United in Music Concert Programme
St John Fisher Catholic High School Concert Band
The Band is made up of students from this very popular High School. They are no strangers to The Royal Hall, having performed with the Harrogate International Youth Festival here.
In July this year they travelled to Bagneres de Luchon and were extremely well received at all the concerts they performed, and under their Music Director Craig Ratcliffe. Their hosts in Luchon looked after them extremely well.
Kaminari UK Taiko Drummers
They were formed in 2009 and since then have gone from strength to strength giving performances at festivals, charity events and private functions. Also performing at the National Railway Museum, Bishopthorpe Palace, Castle Howard and the Great Yorkshire Fringe. Members of the group have travelled the length of the UK, into Europe and out to Japan to improve their skills. They give their services free this evening to help fundraising.

ACT OF REMEMBRANCE
Tewit Youth Band
Formed in 1978 by the late Leighton Rich OBE they have travelled extensively throughout Europe and achieved Gold and Silver awards at the National Youth Brass Band Championships over the years. They have visited Bagnerès de Luchon twice, 2012 and 2016 and were well hosted and looked after on both occasions. Based in the Harrogate District they have around 90 members from age 6 to 19. Thanks to the Harrogate International Partnerships they have been invited to perform in Barrie, Ontario Canada, early August 2018. Their Musical Director is Martin Hall.
The Harrogate Band
Being the oldest brass band in Harrogate, they were invited to participate in the famous Fêtes des Fleurs at Bagnerès de Luchon in 2014. They created a big impression, giving concerts throughout their visit, and marching through the town for the festival. A colourful parade with horsemen from the Basque country, cowbell dancers from Hungary, bagpipers from Spain and salsa dancers from Bolivia. They were well accommodated in a school hostel and fed in a splendid medieval banqueting hall. A truly memorable experience for all involved. Their Musical Director is Dean Jones.
