Macmillan Coffee Morning raises £400

1 October 2013

On Friday it was the World’s Biggest Coffee morning again in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Boroughbridge Mum and business owner of Mini Swimmers, Elaine Ives, held a coffee morning at home bringing together family and friends who dug deep and raised £400 (and still counting) to help support those with cancer.

With her Mum diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, the coffee morning was especially close to their heart to raise funds to support the great work by Macmillan.

La Rascasse Continental Coffee Bar, also in Boroughbridge, kindly donated the coffee, serving over 70 cups. Friends also helped bake the selection of fabulous cakes.

A raffle of generously donated treats raised some more pennies and Pannal Golf Club added nearly £50 from a scarf raffle with their lady members.

Elaine added:

It was so lovely to see so many friends and family join us, enjoy a natter, coffee and cake whilst raising an incredible amount for Macmillan. Even those who could not make it contributed and made the morning such a great success.

Even with the coffee morning over, Elaine and her Dad took to the streets of Boroughbridge to raise some more cash by selling off the rest of the cakes.
