Resurfacing Lancaster Park Road, Harrogate

3 October 2017

North Yorkshire County Council is to carry out resurfacing work on Lancaster Park Road, between the junctions of the A661 Wetherby Road/Lancaster Park Road and the A59 Knaresborough Road and Lancaster Park Road.

To keep disruption to a minimum, the work will be completed in three phases. The first is planned to start on Sunday, 15 October and will be followed on two further Sundays, October 22 and October 29.

The road closure and work on each phase will be carried out between 8am and 6pm. There will be full access to and from Harrogate District Hospital and the A&E Department. The signs along the A661 and the A59 will be amended to suit each phase of the work.

County Council Executive member for Highways, Councillor Don Mackenzie, said:

Unfortunately this will inevitably restrict vehicular access to properties directly affected, but our contractors will try to assist where possible during the working day, through the use of on-site personnel tasked with managing access.

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any disruption that these works may cause and would again request the co-operation of residents.’

Arrangements have been made in co-operation with Harrogate Hospital to allow the use of the Willaston Crescent car park for residents to park without charge for the duration of the work.

County Cllrs John Mann and Richard Cooper who represent Harrogate Central division expressed satisfaction that efforts would be made to minimise disruption and resurfacing is essential if our roads are to be maintained to a good standard.

Cllr Mann said:

We are reassured that every effort will be made to maintain access for hospital traffic and minimise inconvenience for local residents and the travelling public.

  1. I hope they are not just going to cover the pot holes with tar and clippings or the type of finish the put on the paths. Today we as residents of Lancaster Park Road have had a hand delivered letters put through our letter boxs dated 25/09/2017. There is a web link that does not work and the letter does not explain how we are able to use the hospital car park to put our cars off the road and the second page that is of plans and notes is unreadable.
