Harrogate lighting company are glowing for Macmillan this Christmas

5 December 2016

Harrogate lighting specialists Lights4Fun have launched a limited-edition product this Christmas to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The family run business, who specialise in decorative and festive lighting, have designed the ‘Candle for a Cause’ specifically for Macmillan to light up people’s homes and lives.

And every penny of profit from the product will go towards providing essential services for cancer patients.

Jo Naughton, Co-founder and PR Director at Lights4Fun said:

We are passionate supporters of Macmillan and our idea was simple – to create an exclusive and unique product to support people affected by cancer. We’ve worked long and hard to ensure that the product does just that, and couldn’t be happier with the final result.

Ideally placed on your coffee table or mantel, the Candle for a Cause is designed to create a scatter of diamond silhouettes for those cosy evenings ahead. With a chalky ceramic finish and a rich amber glow, it’s a timeless candle for your home.

The battery operated candle is hand-poured inside with real wax, has a gentle flickering LED flame and timer function.

Jo continued:

We have been delighted with the response since we launched the Candle, and have had customers contacting us to order more and to say how lovely the product is.  Obviously we are hoping to raise as much as possible; almost everyone I speak to has a relative or friend battling cancer and benefitting from the varied services offered by Macmillan.

Macmillan provide medical, emotional, financial and practical help for all cancer patients, from cancer nurse specialists, to grants for cancer patients with money problems.

Michaela Ryder, local Fundraising Manager for Macmillan, said:

It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Lights4Fun to create this product so we can glow together this Christmas! Macmillan rely almost entirely on voluntary donations, so it is only thanks to the support of local businesses like Lights4Fun that we can keep supporting services to provide the best cancer care possible.

It costs just £27 to fund a Macmillan Nurse for an hour, so every penny raised from the Candle for a Cause really will make a huge difference. Macmillan’s ambition is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer, and with this exclusive candle we can work towards that goal.

The Candle for a Cause is now on sale for £5.99. You can read more about the Lights4Fun story and order your Candle for a Cause at their website: https://www.lights4fun.co.uk/macmillan
