Ashville Teacher wins her and school £1,750 “outdoors kit” vouchers in National competition

11 September 2016

A Harrogate school has won £1,500 to spend on new outdoors kit thanks to one of its teachers entering a national competition.

And, in addition to the school prize, Caroline Jennings, from Ashville College, has also won vouchers worth £250 for herself in the Duke of Edinburgh Award’s Cotswold Outdoor Summer prize draw!

The retailer – which has a store on Harrogate’s West Park and is the recommended retailer of expedition kit to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award – has been running a national prize draw for those involved in the scheme.

Mrs Jennings said:

I’m absolutely delighted to win the third prize draw of the year.  As a leader for the gold section at Ashville College, I’m out with our groups in all weather conditions, so these vouchers will be great for getting my own and the school’s kit up to date!

Having been brought up with lots of experience of the great outdoors, from walking in Scotland to numerous camping trips, and then joining the mountaineering club at university, I particularly enjoy and value the expedition part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

  1. Couldn’t Cotswold look at helping kids from less privileged backgrounds?
No offence to Ashville – but am not convinced funding is a problem for them
