Harrogate parking charges on the agenda at Chamber meeting

9 July 2016

Proposals to introduce Sunday and evening parking charges in Harrogate will be debated at the next meeting of Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce.

County Councillor Don Mackenzie will present his case for introducing parking charges at the meeting on Monday and will then take questions from the audience.

North Yorkshire County Council are pushing forward with charges for Sundays and evenings, changes that they say are supported by a survey and also have the backing of Harrogate Borough Council.

The meeting takes place at St Aidan’s C of E High School on Monday, 11 July 2016 from 5.30pm.

It is open to any business people to attend and there is no charge for first-time visitors, but pre-registration is required.

Sandra Doherty is the CEO  and a past resident of the Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce.

I have asked Don Mackenzie to come and speak at the next meeting as we are very close now to hearing what the North Yorkshire County Council are proposing and it will be good for Members to understand what is being proposed.

I am sure Don will be able to let us have an objective view on the relative benefits Sunday Parking would bring to the town centre.

I am glad that such a knowledgeable Councillor will be there to answer our members questions
