A hair and beauty expert from Harrogate has raised £1,207 for Yorkshire Cancer Research after organising a ladies’ night for the charity.
Helen Jaymal, who recently completed an Events Management degree through the Open University at Craven College, Skipton, held the event at Harrogate Football Club as part of her final assignment.
The evening, attended by 60 women, included an Asian dinner, beauty treatments, entertainment and a raffle.
The ladies’ night was derived from my background in hairdressing and beauty. I thought it would be nice to raise some money for charity, and I was pleasantly surprised by the support the event received from those who attended and the businesses that donated raffle prizes.
Cancer is close to my heart as I recently lost my Uncle Harry to this awful disease and the night was held in honour of him.
Cameron Jamieson, Community Fundraising Assistant at Yorkshire Cancer Research, said:
We’d like to say a huge thank you to Helen and everyone who supported her brilliant event. The money raised will help more people in Yorkshire avoid, survive and cope with cancer.
Following her event, Helen has decided to join the charity’s newly-formed Harrogate fundraising group.
