Police search for prison absconder

Police is appealing for information to help locate a Hartlepool woman who is wanted after absconding from a prison in York.

Leah Dixon, 20, is serving a three-year sentence at HMP Askham Grange, Askham Richard, following her conviction at Teesside Crown Court for grievous bodily harm with intent against a woman at a pub in Hartlepool.

Extensive enquiries have been ongoing since she absconded from the prison on 19 December 2015. These have largely been focused in the Hartlepool and Middlesbrough areas where she has connections.

Leah is described as white, 5ft 3in tall, slim build, shoulder-length dyed blonde hair which she wears in a ponytail, and green eyes. She speaks with a Hartlepool/North East accent and has a love heart tattoo on her right wrist and a bar piercing on her belly button.

People with information about Leah Dixon’s whereabouts are urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1, and speak to the Force Control Room.
