Harrogate events companies report renewed confidence in the sector

1 March 2016

Many Harrogate events-based companies are reporting that 2015 was a great year for business and 2016 is already shaping up in a similar way.

Joe Manby Limited has added 5 new events for 2016 along with 35 re-appointments.

The Harrogate-based firm has now been appointed to provide its services to events being run for the Royal College of Midwives and The British Pain Society plus a new specialist dental show, Pan Dental, a Construction Logistics & Cyclist Safety event, sponsored by Transport for London, and the Holiday and Travel show – which launches in Liverpool in January 2017.

According to Director Richard Manby, this activity demonstrates a renewal of confidence in the events sector.

Richard Manby said:

It’s still early in the year but we’re already seeing renewed confidence in the sector – with a number of new shows launched nationwide, as well as on our own home turf of Yorkshire.  This represents a big improvement from where the events sector was eight years ago.

There’s a growing trend for more events to open to the public which is being driven by consumer demand, particularly in the pet, craft and Christmas sectors.  However while the event industry is showing good growth in particular areas, it is by no means universal and remains, as ever, extremely competitive.

As one of the UK’s largest independent events service providers, we thrive on this and continue to offer real Yorkshire value for money, along with a full range of integrated event services at venues across the UK.

Confidence in the exhibitions sector is showing results at Fishers (Harrogate) Limited as well, their exhibitions arm showed a strong growth last year with repeat customers increasing their requirements and new clients at an 8 year high. So far in 2016 Fishers have added two brand new vehicles to their fleet and with three apprentices due to complete their qualifications by the end of this month, the team are preparing an advertisement for four more apprentice positions.

Director Alan Fisher said:

We rely on the quality of our team and the apprenticeship scheme allows us to give young people in the area an opportunity to grow their skills in an environment that teaches them excellent customer service.

Our Transport Manager Graham Codd has been with us for 30 years this year, and I aim for all employees to feel they have a job for life.

Pickard Event Services have over 30 years experience in the sector and have experienced the highs and the lows.

James Pickard of Pickard Event Services said:

It really is exciting time for the event industry, especially within Harrogate. With the erection of the new purpose built hall at the Yorkshire Event Centre, Harrogate is looking in good shape to take “the exhibition capital” title back.

Pickard Events are proud to run our company from such great town within striking distance of two great venues. We have already have bookings throughout the year in the new hall but are proactively talking to our existing customers to make sure that they know Harrogate is the BEST option for their event.

We have seen a massive increase in demand over the past three years and have made considerable investment to service this demand including increased shell scheme & electrical capability. We’re also embracing new technology by using new LED light fittings, improving energy efficiency and saving costs for the organisers.
