Report of serious sexual assault in Harrogate unfounded say Police

Police investigating the report of a serious sexual assault in Valley Gardens, Harrogate on 16 February 2016, have concluded their investigation.

Officers would like to reassure the public that the incident was not as first reported and that no attack took place in Valley Gardens.

The girl involved continues to receive support from specialist agencies.

The two men who were arrested in connection with the report have been released without charge.

North Yorkshire Police take all reports of sexual assault seriously and will always conduct a thorough investigation.
