Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died following a collision on the A1 last night (Friday 4 December 2015).
It happened on the north-bound carriageway at around 8pm between junction 47 at Allerton Park and junction 48 at Boroughbridge.
It involved a black BMW car and a white lorry.
Sadly, the driver of the BMW, a man aged in his forties from North Wales, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the lorry was uninjured.
Police are appealing to anyone who was travelling in either direction on the A1 and saw the vehicles prior to the crash or witnessed the collision itself, to contact them.

The road was closed to allow emergency service to deal with the collision and for police to examine the scene. It reopened at around 3.40am.
