Knaresborough house fire causes extensive damage to property

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue were called today at 11:51 to High Bond End in Knaresborough (24 October 2015), responding to reports of a roof fire to a residential property.

Four fire pumps were mobilised, from Ripon, Boroughbridge, Harrogate and Knaresborough along with the aerial ladder platform at Harrogate.

The roof was well alight on arrival upon their arrival, and at 12:32 the building was showing signs of collapsing. The fire service withdrew breathing apparatus crews and began using the aerial ladder platform to attack the fire from above.

By 15:53 the fire was confirmed to be out with further action from the fire service to periodically to check for further hotspots.

The cause of the fire will be subject to fire investigation.
