Support Needed For Planting of New Native Bluebell Walk

The Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) has requested urgent help from the Harrogate Community. Plans are underway to create a new Bluebell walk within the woods and resources are required to plant over 3500 bulbs. The bulbs have been funded by a donation from North of England Horticultural Society and purchased via RHS Harlow Carr for the group.

To start the project an initial planting session has been arranged for Saturday, 5 September 2015 between 10am to 12pm.

Those able to help are asked to bring a spade or trowel and meet on Crag Lane near to RHS Harlow Carr. It is hoped to reward all those taking part with a small bag of bulbs for people to plant in their own gardens.

PCG Chair Neil Hind said:

A lot of effort has been spent on removing balsam and adding bluebells to the woods if the first stage of adding more native species to the woods. The recent addition of a new footpath to the woods gives us the perfect blank template for adding this new feature. It is hoped that many more wild flowers will be added next year.
