Plaque unveiled at Harrogate Rugby Club in memory of keen supporter Tony Hill

25 August 2015

Last Saturday, a plaque was unveiled at Harrogate Rugby Club in memory of keen HRUFC supporter and well-known Rotarian, Tony Hill.

On Saturday 22 August 2015, Gillian Hill and her family unveiled the entrance plaques to the new Harrogate Rugby Club facility at Rudding Lane.  A large crowd of family and friends gathered around the plaques, which have been mounted on a huge boulder unearthed when the pitches were levelled.

Gillian and Tony’s brother both paid tribute to Tony as a loving family man and an untiring servant to the various organisations with which he was involved.

A memorial was led by Rev John Smith of Pannal and attended by Brian Umpleby, president of the Yorkshire RFU.

  1. Having worked with Tony from the start of my career, what an amazing tribute to a true Gent. Not only a colleague but a friend and amazing teacher….I’ll never look at a Gulley or Red Pen without thinking about Ty. What a great thing HRUFC.
