Harrogate woman found 3 times over the limit with her children in the car

28 July 2015

Sarah Pickering, 32, of Redfearn Mews in Harrogate has been banned from driving after being found to be more than three times the legal alcohol limit and with her two young children in the car.

She was stopped on Leadhall Lane in Harrogate on the 3 July 2015 and subsequently provided a sample of 109ug of alcohol per 100ml of breath, which is more than three times the legal limit.

Pleading guilty at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court, in addition to the 2-year ban, she received a £150 fine and was ordered to pay £85 court costs and £60 victims surcharge.

Traffic Constable David Minto of the Roads Policing Team said:

Drink driving in itself is a dangerous and potentially lethal thing to do, but to do so with two young children in the car is utterly irresponsible – the consequences could have been catastrophic.

Luckily officers were there in time to arrest her and prevent anything dreadful from happening to the children or to other road users.
