Harrogate MP highlights importance of volunteers

Andrew Jones, MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough, volunteered to deliver meals to the elderly last week during Volunteers’ Week, which is an annual celebration of the contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK

The MP joined Harrogate’s Food Angels team which provides a freshly made daily hot meal to many of the elderly still living at home in the town, to highlight the essential contribution that volunteers make to the service.

Food Angels, which is part of local care provider Harrogate Neighbours Housing Association, currently delivers over 500 hot meals each week that are freshly prepared at the Association’s Greenfield Court site.

The service is facing a growing demand for its meals on wheels service and relies on the support of volunteers to help make the home deliveries.
