Andrew Jones MP backs local business in ‘Rural Oscars’

27 October 2014

The Countryside Alliance awards, aka the ‘Rural Oscars,’ are celebrating their 10th anniversary with a special Champion of Champions scheme. Andrew Jones MP is urging the public to support Weetons in November’s public vote as it bids to be crowned the best of the best.

Weetons previously won a UK & Ireland title in the Awards, making them eligible for the Champion of Champions scheme. The scheme is reliant of a public vote which will open throughout November. The businesses with the most votes will walk away with top honours at a Parliamentary reception in February.

The Countryside Alliance Awards, nicknamed the ‘Rural Oscars,’ were borne of a need to support and promote rural communities and businesses and have become the rural award to win. The Champion of Champions scheme sees ten years’ worth of businesses and community heroes come back together to compete again.

Andrew Jones commented: The Rural Oscars give a great platform to our rural businesses and communities and I am proud to support them. I am keen to see Weetons take the title and wold ask that everyone in the constituency gets behind their bid and votes throughout November.

The winner will be announced live in Parliament in February and I hope to be there to welcome Weetons to the winners’ podium.

Voting is online or by post. To vote online visit www.countrysideallianceawards.co.uk between 1 November (from 9am) and Sunday 30th November (6pm). Postal votes will also be accepted to be sent to Countryside Alliance Awards, 367 Kennington Road, London, SE11 4PT.
