Congratulations to Lucy Poskitt from Harrogate, Y11 pupil at The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL), who saw ten A*s when she opened her GCSE results.
Lucy said: When I opened my results I thought they were the wrong ones at first. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I’ve lost a £20 bet that I had with my friend who thought that I would score highly but I don’t mind losing that one!
Also celebrating success are fellow pupils from the Harrogate area: Ronan Gara of Pannal who scored seven A* and three A grades; Rebecca Marriott attained six A*and four As; Harry Bhogal of Kirby Overblow achieved five A* and five As; Tom Davis attained four A* three As and three Bs; Henry Fiddes of Follifoot notched up four A*and six As; Benjamin Foggitt also of Follifoot netted four A*, five As and one B; James Kendall of Harewood achieved five A*, three A and two B grades; Lauren Chapman of Beckwithshaw scored four A*, three A and three Bs and Mats Crisp of Killinghall who clocked up three A* six As and one B grade.
One student attained an amazing 11 A* and a fantastic 14 students at GSAL scooped 10 A* grades at GCSE. They are among 240 students picking up their results today (August 21).
Nearly a third of all students notched up 10 or more GCSEs at A*-A, while 97 per cent achieved passes at A*-C in the core subjects of English and maths.
Principal Mike Gibbons said: We are delighted with this year’s strong set of results, particularly in the context of the changes that have been introduced to the GCSE exams which affected this cohort.
Our students continue to perform well and we congratulate them on their success, which is testament to their hard work, commitment and enthusiasm.
