Detectives investigating the murder of  Gemma Simpson have found a body at Brimham Rocks

Detective Chief Inspector Adrian Taylor of Protective Services Crime, said: Officers investigating the murder of Gemma Simpson have recently been conducting enquiries in the vicinity of Brimham rocks in North Yorkshire. As a result of extensive work in this area officers from West Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Police have now located human remains.

It will take some time before the identification of the body can be confirmed but Gemma’s family have been kept fully informed of developments.

Brimham Rocks itself remains open to the public.

Gemma Simpson went missing in May 2000 when aged 23, she was from Leeds.

Martin Bell aged 43, of St Leonard’s Crescent in  Scarborough, was charged with her murder last month at a flat in Knaresborough Road, Harrogate.
