Man who died in Ripley following stab wounds now named

dnPolice are now in a position to name the man who died of stab wounds at Ripley on Sunday (3 August 2014) evening.

He is Mark Leslie John Berney, aged 44, from Knaresborough.

Police re-opened the B6165 at Whipley Bank on the evening of Monday, 4 August 2014) after a section of road had been cordoned off to allow searches of the scene to be carried out.

Police have thanked local residents who were disrupted for their patience and understanding.

The suspect, who is aged 40 and from Harrogate, remains in police custody for questioning while enquiries continue.

Detective Superintendent Dai Malyn, Head of the Major Crime Unit, said: At this time we are not looking for another person or anticipate further arrests in connection with the case.
